I first came across Pegasus when I found an amazing Joan Rivers tribute on an ugly wall in Islington. I’m not keen on basic graffiti tags or painting over an attractive building, but if it’s skilled and improving an unprepossessing wall, then I’m all for it. When Pegasus tagged himself on the Joan Rivers Instagram photo, I discovered his work, so I was excited to attend his first solo show.
Pegasus has been described as the new Andy Warhol – would the show live up to the hype? We arrived promptly at 6, and the gallery was already packed with admirers and friends. When we met Pegasus outside, we soon understood why – he is charming and modest. Originally from Chicago, he has had the occasion to meet Joan Rivers on a few occasions.
