Champagne and sushi are a match made in heaven, so I was licking my lips with anticipation at the thought of the upcoming Laurent-Perrier and sushi taster menu at Koi Kensington. I had been invited with fellow foodies Angie and Gary to sample three of Laurent-Perrier’s champagnes, paired with Koi’s new sushi menu.
I’m quite a Laurent-Perrier fan, having tasted their champagne flight at the luxurious St Ermin’s Hotel and previously at Bistro 51 in the St James’ Court Hotel. Koi itself is a cosy space, spread over three floors, with traditional Japanese seating. Koi carp fish lent an exotic element. Our mission this evening was to work out which champagne paired the best with which sushi, and one that we readily accepted ;-). The golden hued champagne flight was an attractive sight.
