It’s always a pleasure meeting up with other foodies and we’re never short of restaurant suggestions! Top of our list to try was The Ivy West Street. This newly refurbished grande dame of the London dining scene was a must visit. Located in the heart of Covent Garden, it’s a stone’s throw from St Martin’s Theatre, which has been showing Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap for 63 years!
The Ivy is another local institution, and I’d first visited many years ago – would the revamp live up to expectations? Designer Martin Brudnizki has given it an update whilst retaining many of the original features. The art deco exterior of the building has thankfully been left untouched. Heading inside, I was pleased to see that the iconic harlequin stained glass windows were also still in place. What’s new is the central dining bar, which creates a real focal point for the room.
